Your worship should reflect your heart's deepest desire, and recently it's come to my attention that if God is not that deepest desire, then we are not doing this Christianity thing as well as we think we are.
This is the other area that God has spoken to me a lot about over these last few months: idols. It's so easy to make idols in our lives, of other people, of our work, of things that just seem so much more relevant to us than God. The thing is though, there is nothing more relevant than God, and when we try to find our happiness in those other things, we're not going to find it, and I have experienced this first hand this year.
The moments that I've found the most joy and peace have come when I have surrendered to God, acknowledging who I am through Him, and acknowledging just who He is. After a long period of waiting, I feel as if God has pushed me forward to that next stage and now I'm there like Isaiah in chapter 6 verse 8 screaming, "Here I am, Send me!"
We have to be intentional about that though! This intentionality doesn't just give glory to God, but also benefits our wellbeing too. It's a beautiful two-way street. So pray with all your heart, sing until your voice won't let you, show love to the world around you, but most importantly- Mean every single part of it.
